10 Ways to Make This Winter Feel Like A Hallmark Channel Christmas Movie

‘Tis the Season! Love them or hate them, you can’t deny that Hallmark Channel Christmas Movies bring about a certain warm, fuzzy feeling. *Some of us* have been counting down the days until it became acceptable to partake in all of the holiday cheer: hanging the wreath, decorating the house, and decorating the Christmas tree with a Hallmark Christmas movie playing happily in the background.

This winter, you don’t have to live in a charming New England small-town or New York City to celebrate the holidays like it’s a Hallmark movie. Although if you do, it certainly helps.

In addition to binge-watching all of the 2019 Hallmark Christmas movies with a cup of hot chocolate, here are 10 fun Christmas-y activities to add to your winter bucket list this season:

1. Go to a Christmas-Tree lighting

There’s nothing that screams “Christmas!” more than a Christmas-Tree lighting. Usually, the ginormous tree is lit up with accompanying musical performances and other holiday-themed fun. Plus, there are usually tons of fantastic photo opportunities for you Instagrammers.

2. Deck the Halls

Waking up to darker mornings and colder weather can certainly put a damper on things. One surefire way to brighten up your morning is by decorating for the holiday.
Doesn’t coffee taste so much better when you’re looking at a Christmas tree?
What are you waiting for? Grab the tinsel and holy and go to town!

3. Put on Something Festive

Rock a little bit of red or better yet – an ugly Christmas sweater – and you might just make someone else’s day too!

4. Bake Christmas cookies and Drink Hot Chocolate

Regular shortbread cookies, shortbread cookies with green and red sprinkles, shortbread cookies with white chocolate chips and cherries, shortbread with those festive silver balls…
This is the one time of year where I usually bust out my bakeware and get to work.

5. String Up The Lights

It helps make up for those shorter days and longer nights!

6. Summon Your Inner Pinterest-Goddess and Make Some Ornaments

How hard can it be?
These are usually my famous last words before a complete and utter Pinterest-fail. DIY ornaments can be an amazing success, or at the very least, a hilarious story for you and your friends.

7.  Find A Christmas Market

Is it even Christmas if you haven’t been to a Christmas market? Filled with unique gift-ideas, decadent foods, and amazing photo-opportunities, Christmas markets are definitely having their moment. There seems to be a new one popping up every year. If you go on a weekday, they are usually a little less crowded. They certainly do not disappoint!

8. Support Your Community

Support your local community!
Know a friend who is starting their own baking business? Order a dozen cookies as a gift to them and yourself. Is there a mom-and-pop shop in your town? Head in and see if you can’t support them – even if it’s just by buying a card or two.

9. Give Back

There’s nothing better than giving – whether you have the opportunity to give your time (this could be the year that you volunteer at a local charity or food bank!) or have the chance to donate a gift or two to a gift drive. As Tony Robbins says, the secret to living is giving. I couldn’t agree more.

10. Embrace the spirit

However you celebrate this holiday-season, you’re guaranteed a wonderful time if you bring your positive intention, joy, and spirit.

Happy Holidays!
